In this provocative and illuminating presentation, Salvatore proposes that aromatherapy is ready for its next evolution: from a modality that supports recovery to one that actively cultivates flourishing. The vehicle for this is embedded in Kotodama — the Japanese concept of the spiritual power of words — a framework he has spent years developing at its intersection with positive psychology and precision formulation.
By mapping 28 profound Japanese words such as ikigai and wabi-sabi — onto the six VIA Virtues and 24 Character Strengths, Salvatore has created a clinically grounded protocol that uses essential oils not merely as therapeutic agents but as aromatic anchors for specific character strengths. Scent, he argues, bypasses the rational mind to lodge new psychological orientations directly in the emotional brain — making it uniquely powerful as a tool to flourish that positive psychology identifies as the foundation of genuine wellbeing.

About Salvatore
Salvatore Battaglia is a visionary leader in aromatherapy with over 40 years of experience harnessing essential oils for natural health. Qualified in naturopathy, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and aromatherapy, he has been deeply involved in professional associations and government committees to uphold high standards in aromatherapy education.
