About
Aromatherapy Awareness Week is a global initiative dedicated to highlighting the clinical value of aromatherapy and the positive role it can play in supporting health and wellbeing. It celebrates the vital contribution aromatherapists make across the UK and internationally to individuals, families, and communities around the world.
The week also invites people to take a closer look at their own wellbeing, explore complementary approaches to self-care, and recognise how aromatherapy can support both physical and emotional health.
Now in its 18th year, Aromatherapy Awareness Week is hosted by the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) and supported by a global community of practitioners, companies, and advocates. Throughout the week, we provide press materials and resources to support media engagement and enable practitioners and companies to actively promote aromatherapy and strengthen a wider understanding of its therapeutic value within their communities.
We invite you to take part by raising awareness in your own community and showcasing the role aromatherapy can play in supporting physical, psychological, and pharmacological wellbeing across areas such as general wellness, rehabilitation, social care, and palliative care - helping it to be better understood, valued, and more widely integrated.
Together, we aim to deepen understanding of aromatherapy as a credible therapeutic intervention, challenge misconceptions, and strengthen recognition of the profession. By increasing awareness, we hope to encourage policymakers, employers, and healthcare commissioners to better understand the field and recognise its value within healthcare settings.
If you are planning any activities, we would love to hear from you and see how you are marking the week - please share your stories and experiences, and use the hashtag #IFAAromatherapyAwarenessWeek on social media so we can help amplify your work.
