  • Advise Trustees on financial matters and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements in regard to financial matters, and acts within the confines of our governing document and in furtherance of the charity’s objects.
  • Provide post-audit synopsis for AGM (once per year)
  • Attend 4-6 monthly meetings with IFA Council & CEO (via zoom) to evaluate current financial position, discussing proposals for future investment of assets and charity resources and where necessary recommend action.
  • Oversea the budgetary oversight compiled by the bookkeeper and CEO
  • Liaising with long standing bookkeeper and auditors providing accounting services to the IFA.
  • Act as a counter-signatory on charity cheques and any applications for funds, if and where appropriate.



  • Familiarising yourself with the IFA’s governing documents and relevant charity and company rules to advise the board where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with charity and company law including preparation and filing of accounts, and annual returns.
  • Maintaining and updating the register of Trustees, and company and charity information on the Charity Commission website and Companies House
  • Managing board meetings, typically 4-6 held per year, (arranging dates, notifications, agendas etc.)
  • Taking minutes and maintaining the record of minutes
  • Proof reading and redacting documents for publication where necessary 
  • Tracking progress of the business plan and, jointly with trustees, managing the process of regular review 

It is anticipated that on average, 3 hours per month is required for these roles, mainly via remote contact (email or Zoom). Travel expenses covered when and where necessary and attendance at our conferences.
