Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is one of the most popular and beneficial forms of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). The very definition of CAM is to promote health, relieve sickness and alleviate a variety of medical conditions, which is exactly what aromatherapy can do for you. Essential oils have many healing properties and can also work alongside other complementary therapies as well as orthodox healing methods. Ancient history has provided us with anecdotal evidence of the therapeutic use of essential oils but, in the last few decades, increasing scientific research has evidenced their health benefits. The strength of the evidence base which supports aromatherapy comprises of clinical trials as well as case histories, clinical audits and patient reported outcome data.

Aromatherapy is an investment in your future health. New statistics reveal that 90% of sufferers of back pain rely on paracetamol to relieve pain. Emerging evidence shows that the drug is not only ineffective, but may also cause harm (see NHS website) when taken long-term. Don’t be one of the 26 million people in the UK who regularly suffer from a bad back! Half of back pain sufferers are in pain for months at a time, with over a quarter suffering for longer making life very uncomfortable. Only you can stop the cycle by visiting a highly trained practitioner today.

Employers should also be aware that absence of employees from work due to stress related symptoms have soared in recent years. In 2016 national statistics show that 11.7 million days were lost due to stress, that’s 37% compared to 45% of days lost due to other ill health issues. Aromatherapy is the nation’s popular choice to relieve and manage stress, as well as a catalogue of other health conditions - it is because of this, an increasing number of employers (and insurance providers) now have the foresight to introduce aromatherapy as part of their employee benefits package, as a preventative measure.

Aromatherapy promotes the preservation of health by using a tailored blend of essential oils with specific therapeutic properties, it can be applied in combination with massage or it can be administered under the guidance of a professional essential oil therapist at home.
