Committees

The IFA carries out much of its business through committees. Committees aim to direct the charity’s work and support the board of trustees in fulfilling its role. The board of trustees decides the terms of the constitution, membership criteria and terms of reference of all committees, and reviews these annually. Each committee is usually chaired by (*) a trustee and supported by a clerk, who is typically a staff member. The IFA currently has the following committees: Finance & Resources, Disciplinary & Complaints, Education, Public Relations, Membership and Research. The committee members are drawn from a wide range of field professionals and members with relevant experience.

Education Committee

The aim of the committee is to review and develop the IFA’s curriculum and oversee that the quality assurance of the IFA’s academic provision are robust and effective.

Meet Andrea

Andrea qualified as a masseur at Lowestoft College, and has been a full member of the IFA since 1999. Andrea continued studying advanced Aromatherapy, including the use of essential oils for the benefit of both the very young and the very old and frail and also studied and qualified in other therapeutic disciplines including Reflexology, Hot Stone Massage, Indian Head Massage, Daoyin Tao. In 2007 Andrea obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Complementary Medicine (Aromatherapy) from Anglia Ruskin University. Part of her degree course was directly working with and treating cancer patients using essential oils. The work was extremely demanding but rewarding, and allowed her the opportunity to witness at first hand the multi-faceted beneficial effects that can be achieved from the use of essential oils in the hands of a skilled practitioner. A considerable amount of research also formed part of her Degree Course, whereby she had to not only formulate a viable research proposal, but also action that proposal to a conclusion.
