Approval of Other Aromatherapy Qualifications

The IFA offers an additional badge of accreditation for those who already offer a qualification in aromatherapy that meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Aromatherapy Core Curriculum requirements e.g. BABTAC, ITEC, VTCT etc. Much in the same way as we accept Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for practitioners to join as an associate member we accept recognised teaching courses as associate schools. The aim of this scheme is to provide the public with access to more regulated courses in different regions. Prompted by over subscriptions to our accredited centres, we also offer our associate providers with a route to upgrade their course to the IFA Aromatherapy Diploma standard.

Additional benefits include use of IFA Associate School logo on your website and promotional material, advertisement on our course provider directory and listing in the Aromatherapy Times journal, distributed at all-encompassing events and trade shows the IFA attend. Each of your students can also gain a competitively priced insurance package in the UK (£37.00 per annum) through the IFA’s partnership with Chartered Insurance Broker the Alan Boswell Group and other privileges which include discounts off conferences, discounted supplies, access to research, business guidance and more.

Members of the public will be advised to attend an IFA Associate Centre to gain a level 3 qualification in aromatherapy and on completion of their course may join the IFA as an Associate Member and at the sole discretion of the individual they may choose to upgrade to a full member at a later date.

Before completing the application form, you may wish to use this simple to use self-assessment form to see if you are eligible.

Associate Centre registration fee is £150.00 per annum and £60.00 associate membership per annum for the teacher. All students enrolled on an IFA approved course must also be registered with the IFA as a student member.

Upgrading your current Aromatherapy Curriculum to the IFA Diploma

If you already run an aromatherapy course and want to teach the IFA curriculum you will be required to submit your current teaching material for review. This will enable the IFA education committee to advise what areas need to be taught in addition and / or in more depth to assist in the smooth transition from teaching your current curriculum to upgrading to the IFA Aromatherapy Diploma.

For the IFA to compare your current course content and depth of study to the IFA Aromatherapy Diploma Course you will need to complete the Upgrade to an IFA Approved Course Provider Form, which breaks down the subject content of each module incorporated within the IFA Diploma syllabi. Teaching material must be provided as evidence. The IFA also anticipates this procedure will provide course providers with valuable insight into the knowledge and depth required during delivery in preparation for applying as an approved centre.

There is a £25.00 non-refundable fee for evaluating course content and a report will be provided to the Centre on completion.

The process for assessing and comparing course content usually takes up to 28 days.
