New Online IFA Aromacare Training for Aromatherapists and Tutors
Aromacare is a beautiful, creative course teaching a very different way of using aromatherapy for vulnerable people within individualised care and in the care sector. The course supports physical and emotional wellness of carers as well as those cared for, using joyful and profound aromatherapy techniques that are easy to slip into the everyday, busy times, or calm places, not only on a therapist's couch. It is useful for all sectors of care and if you decide to join the course you will be supported in producing a portfolio in your particular area of interest.
Who is the online Aromacare course for?
This online training is adapted for qualified aromatherapists who would wish to specialise in part or all of their aromatherapy practice within care situations, such as in special needs schools, hospice care, care homes, day centres or with individuals.
An online Aromacare Teacher training course has also been developed to enable teachers to deliver the course themselves and open an IFA Aromacare school. Please note that aromatherapists that wish to teach Aromacare in the UK must hold a teaching qualification in order to be eligible to deliver it for insurance reasons.
This online version means that aromatherapists and tutors will be able to access the training and qualification easily from anywhere in the world.
For those who don’t currently hold an aromatherapy qualification, there are other suitable courses available (to learn from scratch) and you can source an Aromacare course provider here.
How does Online Aromacare Course work?
Your experienced online tutor Lindsay Woodman will be teaching you live via Zoom, be available for questions and support each individual throughout training. Course handouts for easy note taking will be sent by email to each attendee.
The initial training day is completed in one day. During this first day you will discover the ideas, techniques and concepts of Aromacare, be shown examples, and see how to develop this practice within your care-sector. For those who wish to teach carers you will be supported in your teaching practice and be given help in creating a Aromacare Course for carers learning pathway.
Teaching will be quite informal with plenty of time to see artefacts, resources and examples of Aromacare methods, to ask questions and develop your practice and ideas. We will discuss what works in your situation and what needs to be developed further. We will also decide where you will complete your case studies and a suitable date of submission for your portfolio.
Creating your Portfolio
You will be shown how to create a portfolio containing your ideas and artefacts, relating this information and ways of working into your specific area of interest and will then have up to 6 weeks for you to develop these new methods.
The portfolio will contain information about the specific care sector or person that you choose to work with, theory, examples of your Aromacare practice, evidence of your aromatic artefacts items and resources both made and collected, massage stories, case studies, methods of use and include photographs and illustrations. During this time you can keep in touch with Lindsay via email with any questions or support needed.
Review, Assessment and Certification
After portfolio submission Lindsay will review your work and organise your final assessment on Zoom, where you will share practical work, massage, stories, artefacts and talk through case studies and experiences. For the assessment you will need to find a volunteer to receive a short treatment. On success you would become a certified IFA Aromacare practitioner and/or Aromacare tutor.
